FASH-UN WEEK

So much fashion flooding the social feeds, such a flurry that it’s almost too hard to pinpoint our favourites. We love New York Fashion Week and all the glamour that follows it. Tommy Hilfiger and Tom Ford showcased their Fall 2016 ranges opting for the ‘see-it-now-buy-it-now’ format. The other half of shows had their Spring 2017 collections strutted down the catwalk, nothing like mixing it up in the fashion world. It is great to see collections that can be bought straight away nobody likes to be patient these days.
The eagerly awaited Tommy x Gigi collaboration gave the classic all American colours red, navy and white a fresh and modern take. Sheer navy dresses, playsuits, silk shorts and flatform brogues really created that cool millennial look that Gigi oozes.
Tom Ford’s Fall collection was a beautifully draped sea of burnt orange, sequins, leather and fur, a real luxurious Sixties vibe. Sleek hair and natural make up refined the look and let the clothes and impeccable styling speak for itself.
A wave of stand out Spring collections followed and from none other than Altuzarra. Thrills and frills, he sure knows how to capture that elusive Spanish fiesta style. Walking effortlessly cool and sultry the girls pulled off gingham, paisley and embroidered lace without a care. The shoulder grazing, vibrant coloured earrings perfectly suited the already mix-matched looks. The style guru even dared to pair metallic heels with cherry embroidered stockings.
The genius that is Alexander Wang knows how to transform a model from a blank canvas with a quick dye job and haircut to an edgy cool glamazon. Pinstripe pyjama pants were cut off at the knee and thrown together with belly grazing rose covered shirts, very rock and roll yet very Spring 2017, way to make us think outside the box Wang.
Victoria Beckham really showed us her design skills and created a free-spirited new look for women. Shoulder baring dresses focused on the beauty of the woman’s body and soft chiffon pleats flowed effortlessly down the runway. Lush velvet suits in vibrant golds, purples and teals created the colour palette for Spring. Cute bucket bags with an easy to hold strap will undoubtedly be the new IT style, all I know is I want my hands on one of them.
Lucky for us we’re currently in Spring so seeing the top designers ideas immerge in front of our eyes is inspiration at its finest. Thank you NYFW for letting us dream.
