The Queen celebrates her 88th birthday in style thanks to Sydney’s Jim Frecklington. The Western Sydneysider and his team have transformed over 1000 years worth of Australian history into the Diamond Jubilee State Coach. While originally intended to be a gift for Queen Elizabeth’s 80th birthday present in 2006, after setbacks in funding, it has finally debuted. Enough with the excitement, let’s do the math: a $2 million royal tour and a $4.5 million new carriage ($250 000 grant under the Howard Government and a further $4.25 million in private loans)… It begs the question: How long will Australians be footing the royal bill?
